Hi, I saw that Tradedoubler are now doing business in Russia because the website / internet market is expanding hugely in Eastern Europe. My site would be ideal for the Russian market but how do I get it translated at a reasonable cost? Looking at rates for straight translation, the cost seems to be about 10 cents per word. My site has roughly 600 pages now so the cost is prohibitive.

The other consideration is that the translator would need some knowledge about the subject matter on the website. Loads of people have this knowledge because it's a popular hobby. I really need a business partner who would take a share of the profits. Any ideas how to find such a person?

10 cents per word is the amount of money needed for translation when the translator is located in a Western country. Having a local professional translator in Russia or one of the other CIS countries can reduce costs significantly.

My specialty is languages, which is lucky because my site operates in 30 languages. I suggest that, rather than pay to translate your website, you might consider a business where the linguistic work is already done for you.

There are a number of internet businesses that can provide this service for you.
