greetings,

I just finished a little 5 page site for a writer and she wants me to write a receipt out for her. I don't have a business and I really don't even make sites for people. What do I need to include in the receipt that will make it legit? And does it have to be on a special form?

Thanks in advance

Not all of my clients ask for a receipt, but many do. The majority of the time, I simply send them an email specifying exactly what they are going to get for the amount paid (# of pages, # of images, type of content). I also specify what they won't be getting for the amount they paid (hosting, domain names, additional features). Then I outline the cost of future maintenance. I either email that to them, or fax them a signed copy. Most are content with that, and those who paid me in cash in person (which almost all of my entertainment clients do) were satisifed with the standard pink/white/yellow receipts that are for sale in the office section of Wal Mart.

I don't print them on special paper. Basically my "receipts" are an exact duplicate of the quote I send them, it simply outlines exactly what they are getting for the amount paid.
