I have got a member who is coming in each day and joining my forum, for the purpose of getting another link in the forum, all links are to promote an amazon affiliate site,

He is using false emails to open accounts and I have no way of contacting him other than finding him through tracking his affiliate link back to this forum.

I'm pretty sure this is a violation of the Amazon Associates TOS. Report it to Amazon.

More extreme, if the forum software is available as source, write some code to automatically ban users based on specific text patterns (e.g. in this case you would use the Amazon affiliate code.) Then submit the source code to the author as a proposed enhancement.

Put his affilliate ID and amazon domain in your word filter.

If you consistently delete his messages, without comment or concern, sooner or later he will realise that you can delete faster than he can register and post.

But do report him to Amazon (leave a few days popsts to show them)

Also check your control panel - you may be able to block him by IP address - doesn't always work, but it will make life harder for him.

Also, be sure no one can join without a real email address. Keep a list of his, and see if there's a pattern. Then 'premoderate' new members for a while.

Chances are, this is a stalker - no standard forum spammer would bother (unless you are leaving his links intact).

Can you install "nofollow"?

Good Luck :)
