I've been trying to get someting setup for online invoicing, but in the meantime, I got so busy last month that I forgot to send out an invoice to one of my clients. Now, its a month later and I realize I forgot last month. How would you handle this?

Just send it over. Things happen - people forget. Most of the time, they wil not think twice about it

I agree - just send it over.

Probably no-one'll notice, and the error (such as it is) is in their favour anyway, so I wouldn't worry.

A brief note saying it didn't go out last month, apologising for the inconvenience, and offering to extend payment terms from 30 days to 60 days for this invoice is how I'd do it.

When you screw up, admit it. People like that you are human. Apologising shows you are polite. Extending the payment terms suggests you appreciate you've inconvenienced me/my cash flow. I'm now more inclined to stay loyal to you as a supplier.

If it's any consolation, I sent an invoice a *year* later and was promptly paid. I had a crash on the system that does the accounting, and when we restored, it showed the invoice.. we had assumed it was sent but it wasnt.

At the year end we realized it was never sent/paid, so I mailed it off. Client didnt even ask about it, just sent the check without any issues.

Just send it over but don't mention that you've forget it to send, otherwise it might reflect your carelessness.

Just send it out.

Admit to it, or not, it really makes no difference, it's only a month late.

agreed, a month late isnt that long. I almost guarantee they wont have second thoughts about it. (This is from a 'consumers' point of view)
