I'm considering building custom keyword-based sites (25-100 pages) for sale and would like to get some idea from those of you with experience in this area about what to charge for the following services:

1. Researching to find the best keywords in the field a client wants a site built around (or using a list they provide).

2. Writing one keyword-optimized page around each keyword found that meets a minimum number of daily search engine searches (using a service like Word Tracker).

3. Adding adsense (or other PPC programs) and/or affiliate links.

4. Writing a few articles dealing with the site's theme for distribution to article directories and other sites to build up one-way links. Each article will include 1-3 embedded links to the client's site, using the best anchor text.

5. Submission of site to some of the better free directories, maybe 20.

6. Adding new content regularly as an added service that's optional.

7. Possibly hosting included in the price (something like free for a year, then a small monthly charge).

The idea is to provide busy people with sites that are not generated by automated scraper software, but that are focused on effective keywords so they have a good chance of making adsense and/or affiliate income. Niche sites, basically. I envision being able to produce a site in the 50-page range within about 3 weeks to a month, including writing a few 800-1000 word articles with embedded links for distribution to gain backlinks.

I would guess that my market would be folks who want more sites, but don't have the time to do it right - ie, write out good quality content one page at a time.

Before you ask, yes, I've built many sites (been doing it since 1997). But I'm by no means a programmer or expert with the bells and whistles. These would be basic, template-driven sites. Nothing fancy, but with clean designs, easy navigation, site maps, quick-loading, and most importantly full of ORIGINAL content (not scraped or 5th grade-level nonsense).

Thanks in advance for ideas on a range of prices you think this kind of service would be worth.

What would be the purpose of these content sites? If you would be creaing them for customers mainly interested in advertising income, then maybe you would need to do predictions on what income is attainable?

Also, I would suggest that rather than asking "how much is someone going to pay for this?", ask yourself "how much do I need to charge for this?"

If it takes you 3 weeks to build a 50 page site as you say, you're not going to let it go for $500, are you? We all need to earn a living!

I don't think you will get a clear "range of prices" for your services, simply because it depends on how much you are able to convince clients that your service will be worth to them.
The content and extra traffic might be worth a lot more to someone with an existing ecommerce site selling very high ticket items than to someone selling cheap niknaks.

Speaking of which, I think that you should also consider offering services to add content pages to existing (ecommerce) sites, rather than limit yourself to sites built purely for ad revenue, but that's just my opinion.

You are clearly a competent writer, and I wish you luck.
