Please advise on this situation, a famous site, i wont mension which one was offered free hosting by a reputable company some time ago, they took the offer and the site was transfered to them, for some reason, the registrant details were changed to them aswell as this was the clause, they went bust a few years later and the site was handed back to the owner... however the registrant e-mail was still them. The contract stated that if the company ever went bust, full control would be returned to us, but this was never up-held fully.

A person, again i wont mension them, registerd the hosting company's domain name when it expired thus had access to the e-mail, he then requested a transfer and took over the site and all content.

This highjacker now owns the site and there seems to be nothing we can do about it.

Can someone please advise, we need help on this.

here is the best advise you will get on here:

Get a lawyer to help you with legal issues.

If the site is not worth the expense it's probably worth forgetting about it.

It seems to me however that this isn't civil law, this is criminal law, as the guy impersonated your company to get the transfer of the content, that's fraud and probably theft as well. If it is fraud or theft the police should be able to act without you consulting a lawyer, so far as I know.
