Advice Regarding my site

I have a small niche search engine which has been removed from the google index. As a result, I am trying to determine if I should start an entirely new approach to my business, with a content driven site vs. a search driven site. With that said, I was wondering what the opinions were of the members here with respect to how the engines feel about competition (even though it is subtle). If our home page has a search box in it, as it does, will Yahoo and or Google consider this a competitive site and therefore remove it from its index?

The site itself is very useful for its visitors, offers discounts on products and services for those who frequent it, and it is by no means a spam site.

I am not sure I can publish the url here, so just some general opinions would be great.

I'm new to the SEO world too =)

From what I know, Google is all automated. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). If you search for "yahoo" or any of the other search engines on Google, you'll find them. So I highly doubt they'll exclude your engine.

I think the key for you is to target influential nightclub promoters. Do a search for them on Google. Send them an email, explaining yourself and what you do. They should have access to many, many other potential clients.
