Scammed Out of Merchandise

How can I dispute the chargeback?

Don't say I should have known cause I didn't. Sold about $7000 worth of merchandise, shipped it out and spent the money. Not before calling V/MC to verify not stolen. Now the credit card merchant bank wants the money back. I want to open a new merchant account somewhere else and close my bank account to keep my money. For some reason, they don't have a contract with me cause I opened it many years ago. What reprecussions might I face?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld heartlock22!

Since you are asking about a financial dispute which will probably involve lawyers you probably should ask a lawyer. Members can post their experiences and ideas but that is very different from legal advice.

I know this was short on details, but, was the credit card stolen and you sent merchandise assuming that the card was good, am I correct?

If so, here is how this 'should' work.. If you processed the credit card properly, got the number, got the CCV code, and matched the address to the billing address of the credit card, "before" you sent the merchandise, you 'should' be ok..

Now, if any of this did not happen in that order, you will probably be stuck.. And closing your account and moving will not help you.. They will simply sue for the money and damage your credit rating which could possibly lead to you not being able to have an unsecured merchant account..
