2 sites with the same name

I have been asked to start a site which has a similer name to a competitor eg: there is an established site called carstuff.com and another company wishes me to start / build an alternate site that is site called carstuff.co.uk (Fictional names), Please could you tell me, What problems do you for see with this?

I am presently in the same fix - I am doing one site about Car Buy and Sell, with a generic .com name.

I am being asked by someone else to do the similar word wit a similar generic name.

I have a habit to doubt all coincidences in life. so i am only pushing the new enquiry , till i get over with the first one.

Now looking at the two websites, my company (the one I work for) owns the registered business name “carstuff”, but the other company owned the domain name before us, so I am still unsure, if there would be issues, but I think we will have a right of some kind to use the name, if we run a company by that name.

What do you think?
