Hi,

I run a web development company, where I am all. Its a one man company, do What could be the best designation.
As web development is professional job, I do not like to have the name "Proprietor", I am not big, so CEO looks bit high. Other could be Director, Managing Director, (Owner - is not good in my openion).

Any suggestions what could be the best?

Kind Regards,
Benny

These designations have legal meaning, so while you can of course write whatever you like on your site, it probably depends on what the legal status of your business is.

Managing Director seems more appropriate.

I have neen using 'Web Strategist' or 'eBusiness Strategist' on my business card since about two years.

Prior to that I just used the word 'Chief'

I still use it to sign my emails

Just "Director" is I think the most appropriate if it's just you and a Ltd Co.

I use "President" on everything and I am set up as an LLC so it appears to work well for the last couple of years. Although I have a friend in the same business who uses "Commander and Chief"...seems a little over the top some how :)

why not "fortune Hunter"? seems a natural ;-)

why not leave a blank, and fill it in when you hand over your card? They needed a salesperson, you become "VPSales". They wanted the HR guy, well, you get to be it. They share a passion for your field, then you're "chief evangelist" or "industry liasion". Heh.

Recently I read that if you are incorporated, you should always refer to yourself by your corporate title, or you risk confusing your personal liability with the corporation's ("piercing the corporate veil"). I am not a lawyer by any means - I read this in a book about taxes for small businesses.

I use "President" on everything

Not if the target audience is Europe, where those kind of titles look a bit silly.

OK for the US.

Trillian:

Fortunately for me I don't have too many clients in Europe...none to be exact so for now silly as it may be "President" it will be.

What about 'Supreme Overlord Master and Commander'?

It would certainly make it obvious that you are in charge. Not sure about the legal status of the title though.
