Hello people,

we have two bussines websites (B2B, B2C niche and contents websites) that are very similar - appart from traffic-.

Site 1: 3 million pages a month - 480.000 visitors/month, 45.000 registered users.

Site 2: 350.000 page views a month - 80.000 visitors/month. 7.000 registered users.

How two merge both in the most efficient way?

We think the best way is to close the less traffic website and redirect users to the big one, but maybe some of you have already done something like this and can give us some ideas.

thanks in advance.

Hi Freedomaswell,

Can you be more specific:

Efficient in what way? Traffic? Revenue? Profit? Search engine rankings?

You want to merge them so you can cut costs, I guess? Which costs?

Best, a.

hi andye,

thanks for the reply.
those are the questions we are facing at this moment. What we have finally decided is to just focus on one website - the one with highest traffic - , because it is the one that is giving more revenues, and also the leader in its niche. We dont want to diversify anymore.
we want to be able to re-conduct the users and visitors from the second website to this one, so it will reach more value and our users will be able to sell their products to a wider number of possible buyers. In the end, merging both websites in one without losing traffic (the sum of the two websites separately).
Of course costs will be reduced as well in advertising, work and other expenses, but we are worried in the sense that if we dont do things well we might lose some traffic, from users that don want to join the other portal or so.
Any advice/experience? Maybe someone has done something similar and may give some advice.
