Goto as search engine - without using Inktomi backfill?

How can we use Looksmart for the backfill on Goto data, rather than Inktomi

Not sure this is exactly the best place for the question, but it figures in its own way too.

Scenario:
Large UK based site with popular appeal and wide reach wants to add in a search engine. They have a deal with Goto.com already for a related but different project. It's been decided to have Goto power the companies own search engine, but rather than pay for the default Inktomi backfill on Goto listings, they'd like to backfill with Looksmart data (more income).

1) Can this be done?

2) Anyone have direct experience of doing something similar?

3) How the hell is it done? :)

4) If you can answer any of the above, what would you like to drink? ;)

Dunno how one would pull that off, but maybe GoTo backed by ODP? I would guess LookSmart might not like being the fill-in results, or have a hard time paying someone to sit backseat to GoTo. Maybe the site could use them both as primary results, giving the user the chois to browse a directory or search GoTo.

Such a dual primary results setup like that might cause undue confusion among users.... Not much of an answer there I guess:)

Couldn't tell you how to do it but the best example is somewhere like dogpile.com which lists 10 GoTo results then 5 Looksmart results (then FindWhat, then Sprinks etc.)

Nope. The best example is on AOL or Altavista or on any other search engine that has ONLY a few paid Goto results and NO inktomi, even if there are NO goto bids ... :)

That's how we want it done - but using Looksmart rather than our own search engine.
