Maintenance Plans

I am in the process of developing some maintenance plans that my clients have started requesting. I figured I would create a 3 tier plan and offer a package of hours per plan per level.

I also thought I would discount the total hours in the plan off my usual rate, which will be fine. However I am trying to think of some other value added services I could add to each plan to entice them to sign up. The discount is ok, but it isn't a huge discount it only knocks off 8-10 per hour, which is ok, but not great.

I have added that I will do a site positioning report in each plan either monthly or quarterly given the plan and also offered to do one or more competitor sites depending on the plan.

Personally I would like to develop the plans in such a way that they are a great opportunity for a business (without me deeply discounting the rates) so that I can develop a base level of maintenance fees each month with project fees for new projects on top of that.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of things you can add to a plan to make them really hot to a customer?

For what it's worth I alway allow clients to carry forward unused maintenance for a maximum of 3 months (I have several that only want work done maybe every couple of months but like the idea that they are spreading the cost).

As far as positioning reports - are you offering positioning work?

JK:

Actually I signed my first "official" maintenance client today. He signed a 1 year contract and I agreed to allow him to carry his time over for a max of 3 months...but I charged him a 20% premium for the ability to do this, which he agreed to with no problems.

I do positioning work as well. I give him a report quarterly (he is on my lowest monthly plan) and I even agree to sit down with him quarterly to review this.

I am trying to see if there is other things that I should have in the plan to insure that I have a hot seller on my hands.
