Just a little reminder for UK webmasters :)

I've just paid my first self assessment, and fair play to the inlandrevenue for sorting it all out to be online - but it's still so depressing paying so much money to the government.

And good luck to anyone who hasn't done theirs yet.

The Inland Revenue system seemed to be powered by treacle when I did mine on Thursday. Took 4 hours of persistence through crash-outs, hanging, refusal to load pages, 'sorry we are busy, please try again later' notices, etc.

And for anyone who's self-employed - in my experience it was very worthwhile registering a limited company - of course that limits your legal liability too, which is a Good Thing.

(of course this depends on your circumstances... get professional advice... your milage may vary...)

best, a.

PS Yes, it was mired in treacle last Monday too. On the helpline they said the hardware and software were 'fine', they just had high demand - in the last week of self-assesment - now how could they have predicted *that* would happen? <-- sarcasm
