Dependency on third party software to build commercial web site

Is it a good idea?

I have resolved the technical issues and found a third party product that goes on my IIS server and will be a major piece on the site design.

Now, my question is, if a feature is not supported by IIS, should I use this third party software and make my site's URL's structure dependent so much on this one product?

The product that I have chosen costs less than 100 bucks so I cannot expect a "gold level" support on it and the company is somewhere in Eastern Europe and the address is not listed on their web site.

Although this is a team of only few people, but the product is great and many people are using it.. I am just confused.. technically I know I can use it, but as a business decision, should I use such a product and make my site dependent on it (long term existence of the company and the product).

Thanks

Is their an active support forum at their web site (or anywhere) that both product staff and user can participate in? If not, then you are wholly dependent upon their technical support.

As of today, yes.. there is an active forum and I got responses from the team members very quickly.

No. Unqualified.

Tomorrow never comes. But eventually, that software provider will have a problem of some sort: cash flow; management troubles; stockholder bickering; programmer infighting; just plain mismanagement, not to mention the possibility of outright fraudulent practices.

Use stuff that's been around forever, that's not tied to a particular system or OS or provider. It's safer BY FAR in the long run.
