Selling site based on PR?

Company approached me wanting to buy site...

Got an email from a company wanting to buy my site because I have a certain PR and number of established backlinks. Apparently, they didn't give a darn about the content and the work I had put into it. In fact, they had the nerve to suggest I could purchase another domain and park my content on the new domain?!

Gotta tell you, this is a first for me! That is the first time someone's wanted to buy my site solely for PR purposes. It kinda stung, because I've worked my butt off for over two years building that site...and then they offer me what I could make in a month and a half. Well, they're not going to buy it because I won't let them based solely on their attitude! I mean really, at least offer me something realistic! :)

Doesn't google cancel link pop on seeing a change in WHOIS records though?

Trillianjedi...Good point, I think I read that somewhere too! So, looks like a mass spam campaign to buy people's sites :) Apparently my site had some "theme" that they were looking for as well. I wonder how many "themes" this particular company was looking for and how many sites they were willing to "buy".

There are some sites with high PR and/or high traffic that haven't been monetized and represent little value to their owners. One or two of these might leap at the chance to unload what they see as worthless property for a few bucks.

Rogerd...I completely 100% agree with you. It's likely that this company will be quite successful buying people's sites because these people just don't know how to monetize their sites (or are just tired of them). I'm sure this company will do well, I'm just glad I know the value of my sites and what I can get out of them...more than just money, but satisfaction of my hard work too.
