I don't own one, yet. But I have been thinking about it as it would certainly make my life easier. From what I have heard reseller accounts are excellent, but there is a large cost incurred and I have to ask myself is it neccessary?

And where better to ask than here.

So from experience would you recommend them? Do you find it useful to have control of all domains with one account? or are you placing all your eggs in one basket? What would be a well priced package for UK hosting with 30(ish) domains? I read about their plus points often but very few negatives whichmakes me feel like I am not getting the full story.

I would think that as a webmaster you probably wouldn't want to mess with the hosting. Being a reseller is OK, but you have to provide your own tech support to your users. That can be a 24 hour job ...

Too bad **** stopped their reseller program, they had a great option for webmasters. They had this thing where you could set your prices and they would bill your customer the price you wanted to bill them, host their site, handle all of the support, and every time they billed the customer they would PayPal your share of money to you. I used it back in 2001 and it was pretty cool but I heard they don't offer it anymore. If any other hosting company has a similar program out there, that would be great for webmsters.

Side note: When did PayPal become a verb? :)

PayPal became a verb about the time surfing (a wave) got lost in the deeps of the 60s.

Consider perhaps a multi-domain account as well? If its all for your own sites it may in some cases even be preferable. Basically one login/password, multiple domains. Some of our clients with reseller accounts actually just create one multi-domain account under it and use that.

Furthermore you will likely find that you can get things a bit cheaper that way.

Thank you for your replies.

I am still in *limbo* somewhere between reseller and multiple domain hosting.

I think for my own working style the multiple domain account might be better. But not many offer a service of that kind with 30+ domains, and then I am looking at the more expensive reseller packages.

Does anyone know a host who'll offer me this. (it MUST come with UK telephone support - I am a designer, so my server knowledge is very limited).

Don't put all your eggs in the same basket.
If you plan to use this service for your own sites be aware that when the server goes down so does all of your sites.
Having your sites on different servers may cost a bit more but if one server goes down you can still pull in revenue from other sites.
