CRM software

suggestions please..other than ACT/Goldmine

I really need some CRM software.Preferably something like ACT or Goldmine but simpler. I could also use some sort of scheduling software, so we can input details of any order and have a reminder for when it is due to be despatched?

Any ideas?

Are you and your group windows users? I found Outlook far simpler than ACT!, and most windows workgroups have it already installed. It does everything necessary.... Also, depending on the complexity you really need, you could simply use Post-It Notes software from 3M; it actually does pretty much exactly what the contact managers do, including calendring, scheduling, alarms, mail to the group etc.

Can't help you if it's not windows you're after....

I am looking at ChannelCRM. This is a Danish based company and the software is free for one user. It looks easy enough and everything, including the documentation can be downloaded at <snip>.
I have downloaded it my selv, and installed it, but that is as far as I have gotten this weekend

I published a 4-part comparative review in late 2002 of ACT! 6, ContactTracker and Legrand CRM. Since then CT has had an upgrade, which I have not seen but it was the winner by a nose.

Depending on which aspect of CRM matters more to you, e.g. ACT does not have the concept of Companies vs Individuals, or need for Unicode content, or the number of custom fields you can add, you won't get a feel for what is truly best for you without downloading trial versions.
