I've been making websites for years now and I would like to start making money doing it. I set up a site with my past projects and what I can do. Now I would like to know the best place to advertise to gain clients...is local newspaper and phone book advertising good or would I be better off using banner ads and the internet to get the word out? Any help in getting clients would be appreciated.

numtel,

Have a look here [webmasterworld.com...] for some very good ideas.

Joining local business group has proven VERY successful for me. The thing is to stay in the group long enough to let the people know you, like you and trust you (the fundations of them buying your services).

The groups I joined only accept one member per profession to avoid possible conflict between members - what's more I am also in charge of the groups websites which provides an additional income :)

Hope this helps

Thanks for the link, the BNI and using the chamber of commerce seems like good ways and I'll try sending out letters too.
