I'm starting up my own Data Center, and I was wondering if anyone knew what software would be good to use for clients. (eg: Plesk, CPanel, etc...)

Also, what are some good brands of server products to use? (eg: dell, ibm, hp, 1u, 2u, 4u.etc...)

Thanks,
Daniel

CPanel is probably the most popular, but Plesk 7 is really nice (and a large improvement from 6). Ensim is the other big player, and is often the "barebone" control panel with many companies due to its pricing - but it's a tad lacking in the user friendlyness area IMHO.

Dell hardware running Linux with WHM/cPanel is my personal preference.

I like the optional auto-update features of WHM/cPanel in the latest releases. I used to be a big fan of Plesk, but now they seem a little dated (even with V7). I still have a couple of Plesk servers, but would like to switch them to cPanel when convenient.

I've heard some good things about Ensim, but it doesn't seem to provide the power of WHM/cPanel.

At the end of the day you will probably still end up using SSH sooner or later to fix something on them all!
