Wonder if anyone had any idea on Content Management Applications. I have used Act! (well set it up for people) in the past but it seems rather clunky for people on the road syncing databases etc.

What would be perfect would be a web based app that people can log into and update details, log calls etc The only one I have found is Act! for Web and I am still waiting on further info on that to see if it is suitable.

Would have to work on W2K server, can use MS SQL and IIS. Don't want to go to the expense of a new server to run it.

I rolled my own a while back. Works slick. Allowed managers to assign staff as POCs for customers (individuals - not the company). Allowed 2nd level managers to assign companies to 1st level managers as POCs. Allowed one person (or more) GOD control over the whole setup.

All communications were recorded with a method of communication (email, phone call, fax, etc...) modifier and date/time stamped. Activities were visible under company and customer records. All customers were displayed under company records. If you were the primary contact for a customer and someone from your team contacted your customer you were automatically notified.

Todo list and callbacks were located on the top page after you logged in. Wouldn't go away until you addressed them or deleted them.

Plus many additional features.

But it's probably not as robust as an OTS solution though it worked for our needs.
