If one in 100 people that received your mailing actually came to your site, and they cost $.45 each with design, printing, and post, that is the same as paying $45.00/click. Maybe one in 20 visiting your site will buy services, so it would be $900.00 per customer. Is it worth it?
I've heard of people having success by searching for companies in their area with an outdated website and picking up the phone. Have a chat to them ask about their site and it's goals. Then ask if they're happy with it, what they wish it could do and doesn't etc. Use that to make a nice pitch.
