Thoughts about stumbleupon?

I was reviewing my website logs and found a couple of referrals from someone using the StumbleUpon toolbar thingie.

Had a quick look at their website - seems an interesting concept. Has anybody got any thoughts about it? Is it a legit site or spyware? Does anyone get a lot of referrals from it?

I'd never heard of it before - so I'm just wondering whether it's a growing new thing or just some oddball corner of the web.

Thoughts anyone?

It has been around for a while, an IE toolbar referral system. I don't think there is any spyware involved, unless someone knows otherwise.

Basically, if you are seeing referrals in your logsa, it simply means someone using the system thinks your site is worthy of referring to other system users. I get the odd user coming in to some of my sites via Stumbleupon, free traffic.

It's another way to get feedback on what people think about your site. Some people will just leave a rating, whilst others leave comments. You need a fairly popular site, or some luck, to get any comments.

It's not the only site where people can leave reviews of other sites, but it can be worth checking for your urls, in case anyone has said something useful.

It's consistently among the top 20 referrers to my site, and I've noticed visitors coming in from it tend to view more pages than average. Of course, compared to the top 3 SEs the traffic is minimal but in my experience it's good quality.

I don't like the site. I've also never figured out how their site works. But yesterday for example they send me over 500 visitors and that ain't bad.
