I now get to design and build the companies intranet site. I've never done an intranet site before nor have I ever used one. I would relay like to take the full ptentioal In intranet site has to offer. Oviously targeting employees is a bit different then targeting customers. Anyone have generic sugestions or thoughts realted to an intranet site?

Corporate/company culture is one area that oft gets overlooked. Developing an intranet site is one thing, but knowing that your employees are actually using it is another.

What type of questions are you currently contemplating? Throw them down and I'm certain you'll see others add to them for some more ideas ...

Few basic things before designing an intranet website are that it should be very user friendly. corporate look shud exists. easy navigation, use of icons with the links makes it more attractive.

SOme of theings we want to put on our site:
"Rainbow Rag" web edition (internal newsletter)
Staff directory
Agency documents, forms, policies, handbooks (boring stuff that you can't burn or run away from)

Builton board for personal/buisness use (items needed, itmes forsell ("My daughter Ann is selling buterfly scouts cookies--sheets in the breakroom, thanks I'll be sure to buy your kids fundraiser stuff too if you buy mine")

blood test/cpr, driverliscence and insurance info as well as a little program to remind people to get it done each year whenever their's is aboult to expire. (that's going to be fun to write)

Help files, training materials and my favorit--"kNOw IT help" for those who will amaze me that they can even figure out how to log into the intranet site to begin with.

I so wanted an onions/orchids to page and we had a good laught over that sugestion but decided it might raise too much resentment. maybe an orchids page.
