Ideas for 250,000 uniques per day website

I own a site in the music arena which gets about 250,000 uniques per day. I make some decent coin off the CPM networks, affiliate sales and also from site memberships. However, I'd like to leverage the traffic to build a more viral community like product.

I could just recreate what others have done like myspace, etc.. but I'd really like to try something different.

Anybody got any ideas as to what 16-29 year olds are really into these days? Ringtones, mastertones, mp3's, music videos, etc... I know all of that, but what could be something that they tell all of their frineds about that solves some sort of fundamental pain in the marketplace?

Warning! I migth actually use your ideas, but I figure since few people have sites that get 250,000 uniques per day a few of you might be willing to part with some good ideas or general areas to explore. I'll try anything, I don't care how bizarre!

Sex, drugs and rock and roll just like always. It sounds like you are making money of the latter, you need to try to take advantage of the first two.

Watch MTV and see what they do, pay attention to what kind of products they are promoting and promote them on your site as well.

Other than that festivals and travels seems like solid suggestions. Maybe you could extend it to clothes but maybe that's a whole other ball game.

Exactly, watch MTV and buy some magazines. Who is advertising?

I'd start with the CPM networks like Tribalfusion, Fastclick, Valueclick, Realtechnetwork, Caslemedia, or Revenue.net. They should help fill your pockets with a few grand a month or more.

it's tough...some good suggestions. Got booted from fastclick because it was just too much for them, they couldn't fill the ads and the performance was too low. Trying rightmedia.com now, they are doing a good job...casale is ok, tribalfusion is not so good. Might try revenue.net or gorillanation....maybe burst...

I think the ad networks need to learn more about the traffic and maybe get it in front of the right clients before I start making some coin.

Your user base is already telling you what you want to know...you simply have to understand how to intrepret their messages through how they move through and use your site...for example...with 250,000 uniques per day ... you need to find a way to harvest data daily and look at trends and usability..this will tell you everything you need to know to convert the viral/community side of the equation...

If I had 250,000 uniques per day, there would be a very good marketing company working right beside me to figure this sort of thing out.

Thats too much traffic to take lightly, you need to seek professional help (for your marketing issues).
