Email List Question

Plenty of signups but few verifications

I recently started an email list for a web site of mine, and signups are coming along fairly well--averaging about 1 per day. However, I use double opt-in, and for the past week, none of the nine signups has replied to the confirmation email. (In the previous week, I also had nine signups; four remain unverified.)

I contacted AWeber's customer support, and they couldn't find anything wrong. We both tried a test email to different ISPs; both worked.

Many of the unverified addresses are AOL, but I also have several verified AOL addresses, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. Several unverified addresses are yahoo.com, and I have no verified yahoo addresses, but AWeber tested a yahoo address they use, and it worked fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this?

Thanks.

maybe some of these threads might help

AOL blocking emails from websites with non-dedicated IP addresses [webmasterworld.com]
Registration Emails marked as Spam [webmasterworld.com]
Newsletters and Avoiding Spam Filters [webmasterworld.com]

another thing to do might be to bug the emails so you can see how many are getting opened and that would also help to know if it was a specific provider.
