Tips of do and dont do in a forum

Iam wondering what you should think of before you make a forum go public.

Should i have alot of members before it go public.

Should i have it on a own domain so it is a stand alone forum with links to my own page?

How do you guys and girls promote a thing like this?

What is the most bad thing you could do?

What is your experience of it?

I know we rely on the TOS here, all the time. I would make sure Ove, that you have the rules of the board figured out and written out so folks understand what is acceptable and what's not.
