I used to sell my ebooks on eBay and did pretty well, but I discovered that I could do a lot better by giving the ebooks away after filling them with links to relevant pages on my sites.

I sell some e-books on clickbank and I am an affiliate of others. Some days I do extremely well and other days I do not.

The only issue I have with ebooks is that nothing really stops the reader from emailing the book to 50 of their friends. Plus, you can buy a regular book in the store for 10-20 dollars and the books I sell are between 40-60 dollars.

It is most significant to include relevant affiliate links in your e-books, and also few good articles, reports and monthly newsletter.
I agree that world biggest billboard EBay is very good place to sell it.

Why are the ebooks so much more? You would think that an electronic copy would be cheaper?

You're not paying for the material only; you're paying for the Author, Illustrator's and their intellectual work, so it cost more than the electronic copy.
