Do cached pages on search engines use your images?

Just tried to get to the cached version of a page. The page was really slow in coming up. When I chose "text only version" it came right up. Does this mean that the cached pages are still using images from the original host?

Yes, the cache adds a base tag in the head of the page and the images are called from the original site. So, if the original site is down or slow, the images won't show up.

Not just images, all client-side included items such as javascript and <iframe> contents too are fetched from the source.
