How much bandwith can a BBS use?

How much bandwith does/can a simple BBS require? A site I've frequented claims they use a lot but I cannot imagine how, since they have no graphics.

depends how many users, how many page views, how many messages posted and so on. i run forums which now have 750+ members and about 3000 message postings per month. bandwidth is about 2.5Gb per month. the forums are nearly one year old now and membership, postings and bandwidth are all steadily rising.

I use 10 gigs on bandwidth a month just for a bbs, a good way to keep it down is to use text instead of images, keep it minumal.

It can really vary - I've got a buddy that runs a bbs/blog and it runs about 100gig a month.
