The article talks about the possibility of a new database file system underlying the
OS. From my Compter Science perspective, its a great step up in efficiency and definitely a good way to move for the future...but I don't see how they are going to do it without making every previous piece of MS software incompatible.

"It's a huge risk for Microsoft," Helm said. "They have so much riding on this. If this is late and doesn't work as advertised, it will have effects that will ripple through the entire company and the industry. But the benefits, if they succeed, will be huge."
