Basically heres whats happened
1. I sign up with freenetname.co.uk (not accepting any more) they give you a free .co.uk domain as long as you login to there ISP to upload to your website
2. I get a new cable modem and get rid of my modem to free up a slot
3.I format my hard-drive to get my cable modem to work

now i want to update my site, but cant upload to it so i want to grab it all and put it somewhere else. i did have a local copy, but when i formatted my hard drive...

heres my question: is there a program or a method so that i can grab the entire website with and download it onto my hard drive? ready to move it elsewhere

Thank you in advance neighbour

Hi, sure. Most modern ftp clients will allow you to download entire directories. Just go to the root of your site, and drag it and drop it on the local system.

What ftp client are you using?

My guess is that you can't ftp in, right?

FNN force you to use their dial-up to use ftp

There are a few site rippers that will copy the site for you.

I use HTTrack (Google search should find it).

Its free and should do what you need

Won't Internet Explorer do this for you without having to use FTP?

httrack will pull all the 'extras' that IE doesn't (external css and javascript for example)

I have a client with exactly the same problem
