Hey everyone! I have a client that would like to be able to add/change the photos on a site I am building to showcase his paintings. He has little to no experience/patience with internet applications - basic web browsing is about it. So i am looking for a GUI application that will allow him to upload his photos to this site. I was thinking perhaps the best option would be a blog - maybe moveable type? does anyone have any experience with this situation and can perhaps offer me some advice? Thanks!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld bessington!

There are several decent photo gallery scripts available for free that you might want to look at. The two that I hear the most about are Gallery and Coppermine.

Another option that I found after a recommendation on this board was JAlbum [jalbum.net]. The difference with JAlbum is that the pages are generated on your machine then uploaded as static HTML and graphics. Requires Java installed to run.

Thank you for your recommendations! I tried all three.. Gallery I couldn't seem to configure properly.. perhaps with more time and patience.. Coppermine works well, and is perhaps the easiest tool for a client to log into and upload new pictures. Now the tough part is creating a Coppermine template based on my page design. JAlbum worked well too - but I am a bit nervous about the client installing it on his machine and it not working correctly. Also, after I defined my local photo album folder it didn't seem to recognize new images added after the project was created. hmm.. that might be my error - but just wanted to share my experience with these tools. Thanks for your recommendations!
