How Long Did It Take To Build Your Audience?

I began my site several weeks ago. It's an online magazine updated once a week, and the number of visitors slowly keeps growing.

Out of curiosity, I contacted blogads.com and they said your site needs to have at least 1,000 unique visitors a day before they will consider signing you up. At this point, I've got 1/10th that number.

How fast or slow did you increase your number of visitors? I'm more interested in straight, factual stuff - not necessarily how you did it, unless you want to say.

Is 1,000 unique visitors per day a magical kind of number? Or 10,000? 100,000? I know it depends on what kind of site you have, but I'm new to this and just trying to understand how the Internet world works from the inside.

Thanks

You could probably do that in a week if you want to spend a fortune on pay per clicks for every imaginable term related to your site. It took us 2 years to get to 1000 visitors per day with a mix of pay per clicks, organic listings, link exchanges, etc.
