Im thinking about creating a large directory, eg 'gift shops within a county' and hopefully expand to the whole of the UK...

The problem is a number of familiar websites already exist.

Do you recommend I go ahead with the idea (charge a rate for the shops to be in my directory on a yearly basis) Im hoping this will take off, but need a bit of advice encouragment, as it will cost a bit to set up.

So please advise... I know my subject quite well and feel i can improve on the sites which already exist, both in the design and usage of the site....

Also is it advised I advertise elsewhere apart from the net, As i may not get high in the search results to begin with

thanks for any advice...

Hi,

Pretty much sums it up.

I am getting ready to dive into another Ecomm site that has heavy competition for the subject. I feel though with the person creating content, she is very knowledgable, and what I have seen of the sites on the web on this subject I know I can make a better site that will also rank higher in the SERPs. Might be throwing away our money, time will tell.
