Best Fixed Width?

760? 800?

What is the best pixel width of a fixed design?

I generally do 760, but I am seeing more and more sites which are doing 780 or even 800.

What is your guy's/girl's opinion?

EDIT: As soon as I posted I checkout of PVRblog with 800x600... looks horrible!

760px is a maximum: on 800x600, you've got to take into account the scrollbar and maybe an Office toolbar or a browser sidebar. I tend to go even narrower: one site I did recently was 715px, but that's narrow. 730px to 760px is best.

I use 750 - targetting 800 - looks good in my browser at 800
