Hi,

Help - I’ve been looking for two figures without much success.

1. A benchmark or conversion rate for on-line hotel bookings or if that’s too niche travel sites. I know the figures will be skewed by a number of factors including; brand, language, site design, usability and speed but I still can’t find anything of any worth. Is there a good source for this kind of information?

2. ‘Speed’ - I’ve read somewhere that after an initial 3 second wait, a web site looses 10% of its potential customers per second if there is no or little screen activity – as customers tend to click away or back. Is there some research or a source for this information ?

Thanks for your help.

Hope this helps:
Expedia achieved a conversion rate (defined as a percentage of monthly unique visitors who make a purchase) of 7% in 2Q 2001, which was substantially higher compared to the 4.1% in Q2 2000. Travelocity boasts a conversion rate of 8.9% in Q2 2001...
