in reference to what, I assume you are talking in reference to websites and such, basically when something becomes hijacked it is taken over without permission or by force. For instance the planes that were used in the 9/11 attacks were hijacked planes.
A website that has been hijacked is one that has had code added to it that makes it do something it isn't supposed to be doing, for instance installing spyware, or redirecting to places it shouldn't
if your web browser gets hijacked it's typically caused by spyware. and it will typically change your homepage, and add search bars and possibly try and download more spyware.

hope this helps.

Thank you very much.

How can I remove a hijacking from my browser that spyware remover applications are not able to find?

Another mode of page hijacking is the replace the default about:blank IE page with an advertising page.

You can google for the program HijackThis to help with that stuff. Specter I'm sending you a sticky of a website of a friend of mine, he is one of our tech support personnel and VERY GOOD with this.

The info on his site has you run a few programs that log some data, you send him the log and he replies with what actions to take to fix you up.

His site is free and is driven by donations, so if he helps you paypal him a few bucks. :-)
