I am looking for a new host because the one we are using is becoming unreliable. It is one of the largest hosting companies too and I expected better from it. I am looking for a reliable hosting company with many e-mail accounts cause we cant set up our own mail server here. We need a host that has webmail and multiple forwarding with email. Any suggestions would be great.

Also, if I change hosts, will it affect my Search engine stuff?

Thanks,
Russell

Russell - there have been a ton of threads on this topic in the past. Try searching for "web host" or "web hosting" from the site search link above.

That said, 3 host that continually pop up here as reliable are pair.com. westhost.com and datapipe.com.

The search engine stuff will not normally be affected because you just repoint your DNS to your new host, as long as you don't change any file names etc..

One issue you may have though is actually pulling down your site to rehost, make sure you get it all before you tell the other host you are leaving or else they'll just pull the plug straight away.

If you use a lot of CGI or perl scripts you may need to do some reconfiguration as some of the locations of things will be different.

What specification you looking for on the hosting side of things ?

If the URL is ok..

I recommend planethosting.com

The bandwidth may be a little pricey compared to other options but by hosting more sites with them, you can get your site running with 600Mb space, 3Gb bandwidth, email, SQL n the rest for $10 a month

most importantly, if their uptime is less than 98%, you get 25% of your hosting costs back.

Ive used them for 2 months and the support is excellent. Sometimes my emails are replied to within 10minutes

hope you think the same if you choose this direction ;)
