Creating ring tones

Is it possible to create custom ring tones for various cell phones, or is a special program needed?

For example, if you have a "song" that is assocaited with your company and you want that as a ring sound.

There are many ringtone composers out there. [google.com]

Most of the newer cell phones allow you to download ringtones.

However, what you need to understand is that in the US, ringtones are carrier specific: if your carrier does not allow you to SMS ringtones from one place to the next, you are out of luck.

Many people don't realize that and think that if they purchase a ringtone from a web site and their phone doesn't 'download' it, they blame the phone, when in fact it is a carrier issue.

Great thanks. My phone and carrier allow ring tones to be downloaded, however I have a motorolla phone and have not found ring tones for it. Most of them say they are for Nokia phones.
Any ideas?
