Good project planning software

With ability to print monthly/biannual/annual wall planners

I need software that will alow me to put together detailed project plans. Hopefully not too difficult to learn and will let me print wall planners.

MSProject is an option but I find it to be cluttered, stuffy, expensive and a bit confusing (what a surprise)

So what are the alternatives? Anyone got a killer app that has versions for OSX and WinXP? Freeware? (I'm allowed to ask ;) )
