I would like to outsorce my email to a dedicated email co without paying an arm and a leg. That is I want to put mail.my-domain.com on a decent email server. Any ideals?

Are you asking about hosting your e-mail separately from your web site? If so, I'm using TuffMail [tuffmail.com], and they've been fine so far.
