Domain Regisration runs from $35 for the name brand sites, to $6.95 from sites I never heard of before.
Since the company is only going to register the name, and DNS and hosting will be provided by somebody I trust, is their any down side of using the $6.95 specials.
It would have been worth the extra couple bucks to have it at godaddy with my other domains.
In a word, No. Not if your domain is personally or financially
important to you.
The bargain registrars are great for 'throw-away' domains, I'm sure.
These are great for low cost experiments etc. but that is not my case.
20 years work went into my project, long before there was an internet.
I'm not about to risk my domain name to save 12 bucks a year.
I registered with the oldest, stodgiest registrar out there and
bought up for 5 years.
In 18 months or so I will probably renew for another 5 years.
The LAST thing I want keeping me awake at night is the vague fear that
'Registy-R-Us' will belly up and leave my domain name to the wolves.
