Claria chief privacy officer and former Federal Trade Commission attorney D. Reed Freeman was among those named to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee this week.

The appointment gives Claria's CPO even more credibility and stature at a time when the adware company is struggling to break with its past. The company recently unveiled plans for its BehaviorLink network, an offering that displays ads on publisher sites rather than via the pop-up ads that have drawn criticism from publishers and consumers.

- For me, I dont care personally that he worked for the FTC before, all I see is that he is on the Privacy Board and works for Claria...*Shivers*

Jay Leno joked last night that Tom Ridge is now the head honcho at, of all places, HomeDepot.

Sheese, you'da thought he'd set his sights a tad higher...like maybe Wal-Mart? <chuckle>
