Hi, i want to apply for a dedicated server, but they only provide 1 ip. I have 3 sites that get good traffic and i want to know if there is anything wrong with using one ip for more than one site? Is there any downfalls or problems? or does it matter at all? thx in advance for all your help guys.

My webhost only gives me one IP and I have several websites. They have been up only since October of 2004. I haven't noticed any problems yet.

Search Engines can penalize you for running a "network" on the same IP. Basically this is to discourage a bunch of sites linking to a "mother" site inflating its PRs. If your sites are on the same IP and link to eachother, their linking power may be diminished when viewed by SEs. For the short term this is a bad thing, but if you have a solid marketing plan and linking strategy the penalty will be negligable. For the long term, the cost and ease of management should far outweigh the cons.
