Dear all,

I'm in the following situation:

I have a simple hostingpackage, which I don't use the full capacity of it.

I Just registered some domainnames and I'm able to add these new domains to my current hostingpackage.

But when I do a WHOIS lookup for the hosting IP, I can see there is a blacklist status for 1s ite. This IP is serving 60 sites. My current domain with this package also has PR0.

So, is it safe to add these domains to this package/IP? I'm so afraid that SE's will not pick up the sites. Or has the IP nothing to do with it and are the SE's just looking to the domainname?

TIA!

If your current site is ranking ok then you probably could get away with it and not have a problem. But I wouldn't. If you are serious about your websites, you should insist that all of your domains have different ip addresses and don't go with the cheapest hosting solution. Saving $20 a month now with cheap hosting can cost you thousands of dollars later.

What are some of the reasons a site should have its own IP? Do the SE's penalize for sharing?

Thanks. I am both curious for my own sites and am looking at offering hosting to others, so want to know for the clients benefit.
