The joys of a cheap hosting service!

I just visited my websites, and found that they're in the state they were in two days ago! They apparently had a fubar at the hosting company, and had to use a two-day-old backup.

I worked many hours on my new site in the last two days. I posted about 50 articles, and finally got the template I wanted, and tweaked to an acceptable appearance.

Now I've got to do all that work again!

Hopefully, their working on restoring a more recent backup, but I doubt it.

Until a month ago, this wouldn't have mattered, but now that I'm making an effort to make money, it's a huge setback (maybe not huge, but annoying!)

If I ever start making money, I'll have to re-locate.

Sorry to say it but didn't you have a more recent backup? Never ever reply on your host to backup and that includes the multi thousand pound a month hosts.

Well, I had considered backups to be protection from myself. I figured that I could restore any of my screwups with a backup.

So yes, I backed it up, but the backup was on the server with my website, and was lost. I guess I gave the hosting company too much credit.

Live and learn.

My site is brand new, and I haven't told anyone about it except my wife. But when I visited just now, I saw that I have 33 visitors! I don't know how they found the site. I'm keeping it quiet until I get it completed.
