was using a great freeware or maybe shareware utility for domain>ip address lookup and a bunch of other interesting functions ...

but i've reinstalled my system since and didn't save it anywhere, can't even remember what it's called, dumb or what!!

anyway it was a cool little windows application and i remember the desktop shortcut icon was a spiders web type grafic,

any ideas?? or pointers to something similiar.

thanks.

Sam Spade for Windows [samspade.org] is a handy lookup tool (and more).

thanks Key_Master works a treat.

is there any way of finding what a website is being served from
eg linux or windows, short of looking for telltale extensions like .asp

try [netcraft.com...] You can enter a site name and it will interrogate many things such as platform, hosting company etc..
