many moons ago I seem to recall that it was "required" for a domain to maintain such usernames as:
webmaster
root
abuse
postmaster

was I dreaming? if I do NOT use the webmaster username for ANYTHING on a particular domain is there any reason I should NOT disable it or have all traffic to that username deleted automatically?

I just registered a new domain name and it immediately is getting spam, but only for webmaster which I don't use.

Theoretically, you are supposed to keep "postmaster", but even then I often don't bother. As you say, they are all just spam magnets. If you're not using those email addresses at all, I would get rid of them.
