Is there a free tool out there that will scan your whole website and report broken links? Linkscan does this, but they charge an arm and a leg after the evaluation period.

Any help would be appreciated.

ya, billions and billions - hit one of the billion script archives and look under (you guessed it) "link checking".

We have used Link Alarm for years.

At a penny a page it's a great deal

How about the W3C's linkchecker?

Some threads covering this I came up with doing a quick site search:
Best stand alone link and code validators [webmasterworld.com]
Link checking software [webmasterworld.com]
Link checkers [webmasterworld.com]
External link checker [webmasterworld.com]
program to check all links on website [webmasterworld.com]

Remember to try a site search [webmasterworld.com]. There are a lot of topics which have been covered repeatedly here on WebmasterWorld.
